Appointment Confirmations
AHFE makes it easy for patients to communicate with you regarding their appointments. Your Practice can seamlessly follow up on reschedule or cancellation requests to ensure your patients receive the care that they need.
There are two ways that an appointment can be confirmed in AHFE:
Patient-Initiated: The patient confirms their appointment by responding to an AHFE appointment reminder phone call.
Staff-Initiated: An AHFE user confirms an appointment on the patient’s behalf.
Patient-Initiated Confirmations
Let’s review some basic concepts about appointment confirmation messages within AHFE.
Confirmation Smart Phrases
Appointment confirmations are handled by including the {eventConfirmText} or {eventConfirmLink} Smart Phrases in the automated phone call made to the patient.
Delivering the Confirmation Smart Phrase
The confirmation Smart Phrases can be sent to the patient through an Appointment Trigger or a manual message that initiates a phone call.

Staff-Initiated Confirmations
If a patient hangs up the call prior to confirming their appointment or they miss the phone call, you will need to manually confirm their appointment in AHFE if they contact you wishing to confirm. Otherwise, the patient may continue to receive the automated phone call asking them to confirm or cancel their upcoming appointment.
NOTE: You cannot manually mark appointments as “rescheduled” or “cancelled” in AHFE, however, if you cancel the appointment in your EMR, the appointment will be automatically removed from AHFE.
Manual Confirmation
To manually confirm the appointment directly from the Patient Facesheet, select the (...) menu for the upcoming appointment and select Mark as Confirmed.
