What is DrFirst? Artera's Supported DrFirst Use Case Sample Patient ExperienceImplementation InformationReportingFAQsWhat is DrFirst?
The integration between DrFirst and Artera enables the delivery of post-appointment messages in the patient’s preferred language through DrFirst’s RxInform product. These messages provide important information about prescriptions, medication adherence, and educational resources.
Together, Artera and DrFirst help improve clinical outcomes by offering patients a simple, seamless access point for prescription information, reducing friction throughout the patient journey.
Artera’s Supported DrFirst Use Case - RxInform
Prescription Management
When the criteria are met to engage a patient, DrFirst will use Artera’s Messaging API (MAPI) to send a message to the patient (based on information associated with the patient’s MRN), including a link to DrFirst’s secure portal. Upon clicking the link, the patient will be directed to a verification page to confirm their identity. Once verified, they will gain access to their prescription information, such as medication details, price estimates, available savings, and options to set mediation reminders.
The timing, content, and cadence of messages will be determined by DrFirst and then routed through Artera’s messaging infrastructure. This ensures that any configurations within the RxInform product, such as message content and translations, are maintained during message delivery. As with other MAPI integrations, customers can use existing Practice lines or create new ones to reach patients. This aspect will be managed on a case-by-case basis.

Implementation Information
To leverage the Artera and DrFirst integration, there are setup steps required. These steps will vary depending on whether your organization currently uses Artera’s MAPI functionality and is an existing DrFirst customer. Your Artera Representative will work with you to configure your integration. Click here to learn more about MAPI.
Reporting
Reporting is available for the Artera-DrFirst integration. The Harmony Insights Dashboard can be used to analyze the message count breakdown of your organization’s MAPI integration with DrFirst.
NOTE: This tile encompasses data for an organization with several integrated Artera vendors who each leverage MAPI. Each organization will have a slightly different view of this data, based on their vendor integrations.
FAQs
Do I need someone from Artera to help me implement this?
Yes, please connect with your Artera Customer Success Representative.
What if my organization does not currently have DrFirst?
If you are interested in using DrFirst with Artera but are not a DrFirst customer, please connect with your Customer Success Representative for next steps.
How does a patient use DrFirst’s RxInform product?
Patients click the link in the text message delivered to them via Artera’s messaging infrastructure to log in and view their prescription details. Patients may also access co-pay assistance or savings cards and set reminders to pick up their prescription.
How does DrFirst’s RxInform product impact provider workflows?
It does not. The feature works automatically, without interfering with the e-prescribing workflow in the EMR.
Are patients required to download an app to view their prescription information via this integration?
While patients could download DrFirst’s iPrescripe app, it is not required to help them manage their prescriptions through RxInform. Patients are able to access their prescription information by using the link provided to them in their text message.
Which types of medication reminders can patients configure in the DrFirst secure portal?
Patients can configure automated reminders to pick up their prescription.
What is the “Medication Savings Card” and how does it work?
Depending on the prescription ordered for a patient, they may have access to a medication discount card. RxInform offers co-pay assistance for some brand-name medications and digital savings cards for generics, which patients can present at their pharmacy.
